"Shoremen at the Next Level"

October 20, 2007

There’s good news this week for Chris Rau and his Georgetown Hoyas, who won their first game of the 2007 season, 20-17 over Patriot league rival Bucknell.  Chris, a sophomore starter at strong safety, led the Hoyas with 9 tackles.  His 59 tackles on the year is tops on Georgetown’s defense.

We also received an update this week from Slippery Rock, where 2006 Shoremen MVP Jordan Frank is a red-shirt tight end.  Frank’s robust physique has earned him the nickname “Biscuit”, because his coach feels that Jordan is “one biscuit away from being a tackle.”

In other action Saturday:

·       Andrew Means continues his solid season as Indian’s possession receiver.  Andrew had 5 catches for 69 yards in the Hoosiers’ tough 36-31 loss to Penn State.  Through eight games Andrew has 29 catches for 330 yards, and average of 11.4 YPC.

·       Red shirt sophomore Ian Pace started his second game at offensive tackle for Fordham.  The Rams beat Lafayette, the three-time defending champs of the Patriot League, 34-23.  Fordham is 6-2 overall and 4-0 in league play.

·       Matt Kostelnik had another six tackles for Mount Union in a 35-0 victory over Baldwin Wallace.  I guess that’s the Purple Raiders’ version of a defensive struggle.

·       Jon Schroeder continued his scoring rampage with three more rushing TD’s in the Ashland’s 37-35 win over Ferris State.  Jon has 14 touchdowns in the first six games for the 5-1 Eagles.
